'Psychology of Serial Killers' night coming to Liverpool Empire

True crime fans will be able to attend a 'Psychology of Serial Killers' event for one night only at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on January 29, 2023.

Forensics lecturer, Jennifer Rees will explore one of Forensic Psychology’s 'most troubling topics' and touch on several different issues throughout the night. During this talk, the audience will discover how serial killers are classified and many different types of killers including lust killers, BTK (blind, torture, kill) and 'visionary killers' such as David Berkowitz.

Jennifer will also discuss the differences between male and female serial killers and incorporate case studies for context. Other highlights of the night include the phenomenon of 'killer couples' such as Fred and Rose West and 'The Moors Murderers', Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.

For those who wonder why some people fall in love with serial killers, Jennifer will discuss the clinical knowledge surrounding why serial killers gain admirers, fan mail and spouses despite their crimes. Other topics that will be discussed include homicidal fantasies and how victims are identified.

The audience will also be shown a time-lapse video of facial reconstruction on the skull of a discovered body, as well as the Folie à deux syndrome a.k.a ‘shared psychosis’.

Tickets for the 'Psychology of Serial Killers' night are available here with prices ranging from £23-£42. The event will take place at the Liverpool Empire theatre on Sunday January 29, 2023 at 7:30pm.
