PSNI seize £6,000 worth of 'drugs' after property search in Skegoniell

Suspected drugs with an estimated street value of £6,000 have been seized by police from a property in the Skegoniell area. The search was conducted by Tennent Street Police as part of a wider operation.

The incident was recounted on the official Police North Belfast Twitter account @PSNIBelfastN in a 1.46am post during the early hours of this morning. It read: "Following a recent operation by one of our neighbourhood policing teams, we have conducted a search at a property in the Skegoniell area. As part of the wider operation, drugs with an estimated street value of £6,000 have been removed from our streets - Tennent St Police."

In a Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency report published in March 2021, it was revealed that there were 191 drug-related deaths registered in the country in 2019. That figure was the highest number recorded since statistics were first collated in 1997. Almost half (45.5%) of the deaths were of men aged 25-44.
