PSNI clock driver doing 121mph during 'poor weather conditions'

A driver was clocked doing 121mph on the M2 on Saturday.

Officers from the Road Policing unit detected the 28-year-old male suspect driving miles over the speed limit as weather conditions were wet and cold.

A spokesperson for NI Road Policing and Safety shared a photo of their speedometer this afternoon and said the driver will now "be answering to the judge in Antrim".

They added: "Steeple Road Policing detected this driver today at 121mph on the M2.

"The road was wet and it was three degrees. He will be answering to the judge in Antrim. Conditions are poor at present - please kill your speed and drive according to the road and weather conditions."

Meanwhile, police are appealing for information after a man died following a crash in Co Antrim on Friday.

Inspector Mullan said: “Shortly after 6:05am, it was reported that a blue Peugeot 207 was involved in the incident. Tragically, the man died as a result of his injuries at the scene.

“Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash-cam footage available, to contact officers at the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 212 22/01/21.”
