Zlatan Ibrahimovic has warned Manchester City that Paris Saint-Germain will be far better in the Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium next Tuesday.
PSG drew 2-2 with City in the first leg at Parc des Princes on Wednesday in an error-strewn game. Ibrahimovic scored after 41 minutes when Fernando’s attempted clearance bounced off his foot and beat Joe Hart.
Yet the Swede might have had four goals, at least. Ibrahimovic failed to beat Hart from the penalty spot, missed a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and headed against the bar following the interval.
Both teams made defensive mistakes that led to their opponent scoring. David Luiz failed to intercept the Fernandinho pass that created Kevin De Bruyne’s opener and in the second half Adrien Rabiot and Thiago Silva fluffed the chance to clear the ball and Fernandinho made it 2-2.
Ibrahimovic said: “We made too many mistakes. We usually play better. We weren’t as organised as we usually are. We will not repeat the mistakes. We will play better in the next game. I missed a penalty and then a really good opportunity to score, but I never worry.
“As long as I keep going to the right place at the right time I don’t worry. And I was at the right place at the right time and got the chance. I scored one goal but should have scored another two. I missed the biggest chance to score but scored when it was the hardest.”
Of his goal the 34-year-old said: “I press high and try to put my foot in an angle so that if the ball hits my foot it’s a goal.”
