Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez admitted on Tuesday that he was still baffled by his side's capitulation in the 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on 31 May.
In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, published just ahead of Inter's first competitive game since the slaughter at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Lautaro said: "I was sad and it was hard to understand why it had happened.
"I didn't speak for five or six days," he added. "That night of the final, nothing was possible and we lost everything. It wasn't us. We weren't a team.
"And now we have to move on, there's no other solution, even if it's all still in my head."

Champions League victors PSG set to strut their stuff at Club World Cup

The defeat to PSG – the heaviest in a final in the 70-year history of European club football's most prestigious tournament – ended a grim series for Inter.
In April, they were eliminated in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia and the Friday before the Champions League final, Napoli pipped them by a point to the Serie A title.
"I've spoken to the lads and I've asked them to be mentally strong," said Martinez who has urged his troops to seek redemption at Fifa's showpiece event.
"I've explained to them that one last effort is needed before we go on holiday," Martinez added. "There is one last little stretch of the road to continue to progress.
"We're Inter Milan. We're a mature team. We always want to reach the top. We want to play this Club World Cup to the full."
