‘Proven record’ - TV commentator gives seal of approval to Nottingham Forest appointment

Football commentator Darren Fletcher has added his seal of approval to the appointment of Chris Hughton as manager of Nottingham Forest.

The Nottingham-born broadcaster and Reds fan believes the 61-year-old is the right man for the job at the City Ground.

Forest announced the appointment of the former Newcastle United, Birmingham City, Norwich City and Brighton boss last night, barely half an hour after revealing the club had parted company with Sabri Lamouchi.

Hughton first made his name in management at St James’ Park where he led Newcastle United to the Championship title in 2010.

He had further success at Brighton, whom he also got promoted to the Premier League in 2016/17.

Fletcher was quick to take to social media to express his delight at the former Tottenham Hotspur full-back’s arrival at the City Ground, Tweeting: “In my opinion Chris Hughton is a good choice by @NFFC

“He has a proven record of gaining promotion & keeping teams up which is Forest’s sole aim.

“He’s an honest hard working fella with lots of experience of the division.

“It looks like a sensible approach to a tricky situation”
