Proud moment for Jeanfield as Perth club books Scottish Cup first round spot

Determined Jeanfield Swifts can dream of more Scottish Cup glory after advancing to the first round on Saturday.

Much was on the line for the Perth club as they welcomed Lowland League Stirling University for preliminary round two action.

Swifts had suffered disappointment last year when they were knocked out by league rivals Linlithgow Rose.

But the only feeling this time around was pure joy following a 3-1 victory at the Riverside.

Captain Aaron Whitehead had actually netted the first goal of the afternoon across the competition when he put Swifts ahead.

Soon Chris Scott, who spoke of his hopes of a prolonged run in the tournament prior to kick-off, doubled the home advantage.

And the dream start was complete before the half hour mark when Jamie Reid found himself in an advanced position to smash in the third.

The visitors did pull a goal back in the final minute through Craig Brown but it would fail to dampen Swifts' delight.

The draw for the first round proper of the Scottish Cup is tomorrow morning.
