Proud moment as Wales international among three sets of brothers to feature for club in same game

It is said of brothers that they will always have each other’s backs.

All things considered, then, it’s probably advisable not to even think about being negative about six members of the Llandovery squad on duty against Cinderford on Saturday.

For the Indigo Welsh Premiership club fielded three sets of siblings in the 26-12 win over the English club at Church Bank.

Marco and Dino Dallavalle packed down up front, Aaron and Adam Warren featured at centre and wing respectively, with Jack and Scott Maynard lining up at full-back and scrum-half.

It was a Penny Black moment for the club.

“It’s very, very unusual for a team to field three sets of brothers,” said team manager Jo Rogers.

“We felt it might be a first for Llandovery as a club. We’re not sure if it’s happened anywhere else before. It must be extremely rare.

"All of them earned their places. It wasn't done as a gimmick. They're in the squad and deserved to be in the team.

“The picture marks the occasion. We’re really proud of them. There’s not an ego among the six. They are all great boys.”

Wales international Adam Warren has returned to Llandovery after more than a decade in the regional game, the centre leaving the Dragons at the end of last season. His class was obvious throughout, with Aaron also showing up well. You can read more about Adam Warren's departure from the Dragons here.

The Maynards also were key to the home backline firing as Llandovery ran in four tries before the break, while the Dallavalle boys were to the fore in the forward exchanges.

“It was a good work-out before the season starts,” said Rogers.

"Everyone contributed."
