Property advert sparks 'outrage' as 'bed in shed' is listed for £1,000 per month

When it comes to ridiculous rentals, we expect to see tiny rooms and studio apartments where your oven is next to your shower offered for eye-watering monthly costs.

But people were shocked to see a 'bed in a shed' for rent in Tallaght, Dublin, for €1,200 (£1,000) per month, reports Dublin Live.

That's a staggering €14,400 a year!

In a post on Daft.ie and Rent.ie, that has since been removed, one landlord shared a property listing, with the image showing nothing more than a double bed (no mattress) and a portable heater inside a wooden shed.

Despite the ad being deleted, house hunters who saw it shared screenshots of it on Twitter where it has since gone viral - sparking outrage.

One person described the whole thingas "unbelievably outrageous".

Another wrote: "€1,200 to live in a shed in Tallaght without any central heating.

"Some people saying, 'its not that bad' Yeah, IT'S €14,500 A YEAR."

Most people sided with them, pointing out that there's "not even a mattress in sight" for that price.

Someone else commented: "Absolutely disgusting that this is even legal. Utter greed alive and well as always."

However, others didn't see an issue with the listing, with a few believing the price and living arrangements were "acceptable in the current climate".

A different user sadly admitted they couldn't even afford half of the shed due to the current housing crisis in Dublin and wished they could have something like this.

They said: "I’d take that at this stage if I could afford even half of it. I’m not even messing, that’s how bad it’s become. How did we end up here?"
