Prominent Nottingham bar closes for good due to lasting effects of the pandemic

One of Nottingham's quirkiest bars has closed for good blaming the lasting effects of the Covid pandemic. Glasshouse, overlooking Trinity Square, has been a popular spot on the city's nightlife scene since 2020.

Renown for its colourful, eccentric decor the bar was decked out with topiary peacocks, neon signs and colourful flowers making it an indoor rooftop garden. The owners revealed the closure on Facebook.

The announcement said: "It is with great sadness we are letting you know we are closed permanently. We’ve enjoyed every minute we’ve shared with you all here at Glasshouse.

"We wish we could continue to share the food, the cocktails and the great moments we’ve had here with you. However, the lasting effects of the pandemic have caught up with us.

"As we announce our closure we’d like to thank all the staff that have helped make Glasshouse the experience it has been. Most importantly, we’d like to thank all of you that have come to enjoy Glasshouse with us and all we’ve had to offer! Without you, we wouldn’t have made it as long as we have."

One fan said: "So sad to hear this. We had an amazing time visiting. Both the food and the service was fantastic." Another commented: "Such a shame fabulous place."

The spacious bar was previously Monty's, a games bar, and before that, was the Curious Manor.

Glasshouse was part of the locally owned Curious Venues groups. Its other bars including Lost Property, the Lost Caves, GinSecco and the Curious Tavern in Nottingham continue to trade along with the Black Pearl in West Bridgford.
