Respected mathematician and broadcaster Professor Hannah Fry is known for taking deep dives into the world of science, debunking myths and making complex topics more accessible. Now, she’s shared her science-backed formula for glowing skin.
While appearing as a guest on the Table Manners podcast, hosted by Jessie and Lennie Ware, Prof Fry discussed everything from food and work to family life and maths (of course). She also talked about cosmetic treatments and revealed the skincare products that she actually rates.
From a hi-tech LED face mask and Korean skincare to a vitamin C serum and hyaluronic acid, Prof Fry covered a range of beauty bases.
After Ware complimented the science guru on her hair, Prof Fry also divulged that she uses a Dyson airwrap to achieve her blow-out style.
Here at IndyBest, we’re also fans of Prof Fry’s go-to beauty gadgets and formulas. In fact, our beauty and skincare experts have been waxing lyrical about them for some time. Keep reading for all the details of Prof Fry’s science-backed skincare recommendations.

CurrentBody LED face mask

Prof Fry revealed she uses a CurrentBody LED face mask, which is designed to tackle everything from fine lines and dullness to breakouts and redness. “Red light stuff, absolutely legit,” she told Jessie and Lennie Ware. “There are genuine peer-reviewed studies about this,” said Prof Fry, but she added that red light treatments only work at the right wavelength and if you use your mask at least five times a week.
Our beauty writers named the latest CurrentBody model (£399.99, Currentbody.com) as their top pick in IndyBest’s guide to the best LED face masks. “It covers a larger surface area and wraps around the chin, so you can tackle ageing on the face and upper neck in one fell swoop,” said our reviewer.
SkinCeuticals C E ferulic vitamin C serum

When it comes to tackling pigmentation and brightening the skin, this is another of Prof Fry’s go-tos, and it’s easy to see why. After putting it to the test, beauty expert Louise Whitbread, said: “Few serums work as fast as this.” She added: “It contains 15 per cent vitamin C and 0.5 per cent ferulic acid, and is one of the most stable vitamin C formulas on the market.” You can read Louise’s full review in her guide to the best vitamin C serums.
Dyson airwrap

Prof Fry didn’t specify which airwrap model she uses. However, our haircare buffs have been impressed with all the airwraps released over the years. When beauty writer Lucy Smith put the latest Dyson airwrap to the test, she was blown away. “Much like the airwrap id from 2024, the co-anda 2x works together with the MyDyson app (where you answer a few simple questions about your hair and your styling ability), which revolutionises hair styling,” said Lucy.
IndyBest reviewer Lucy Partington also rated the airwrap multi styler, after testing it. She said it “dried and smoothed hair quickly and easily, with minimal effort needed”, and she loved using it to give her hair “a blowdry-esque finish”.
