College students protest on University of Michigan campus

A wave of pro-Palestinian campus protests has surged through universities in the US this week, resulting in hundreds of arrests. The epicenter of these demonstrations is at Columbia University in New York, where protesting students are demanding the school to sever ties with Israeli academic institutions and divest its funds from entities linked to Israel.

Similar demands have been echoed by protesters at other campuses across the nation. The protests have brought together students from diverse backgrounds, including Palestinians, Arabs, Jews, and Muslims, united in denouncing Israel's bombardment of Gaza.

Columbia University:

The faculty senate is set to vote on a resolution criticizing the school's president for her handling of the protests. The president has faced backlash for authorizing police to disperse student demonstrations on campus.

Brown University:

About 130 students have been identified for violating the school's conduct code prohibiting encampments on campus. Disciplinary actions will be taken based on individual behavior and prior violations.

Emory University:

28 people, including 20 from the university community, were arrested during a protest. Pepper balls were used by troopers to control the crowd, drawing condemnation from Georgia state lawmakers for the perceived excessive force.

Emerson College:

Over 100 arrests were made and four police officers were injured during the clearing of an encampment at the college. The college president acknowledged the activism and passion behind the protest.

Indiana University:

At least 33 individuals were detained following encampment protests on campus.

George Washington University:

DC Metropolitan Police were called in to relocate an unauthorized protest encampment on campus after repeated instructions to move to an alternative site were ignored.

University of Southern California:

The main commencement ceremony was canceled due to safety concerns, with nearly 100 arrests made on campus.

University of California, Los Angeles:

A demonstration with encampments took place at UCLA on Thursday.

Northeastern University:

An encampment formed at Northeastern University in Boston, where protesters created a human chain around several tents.
