Priscilla Presley recalls Lisa Marie's 'dizzying' marriage

Nicolas Cage was married to Lisa Marie Presley in the early 2000s

Priscilla Presley remains fond of Nicolas Cage - despite his "dizzying" relationship with Lisa Marie Presley.

The late actress married Nicolas in 2002, and although it only lasted for two years, Priscilla still has fond memories of her former son-in-law.

In her new memoir, Softly As I Leave You: Life After Elvis, Priscilla explains: "I liked Nicolas Cage from the beginning. Despite his stormy temper (which my daughter shared), he has a good heart and a great capacity for love."

Lisa Marie died in 2023, aged 54, and Priscilla admits that her marriage to the Hollywood star was turbulent throughout.

She shared: "They screamed and yelled, they threw things, and sometimes they broke things. They broke up. And the next day, or pretty close to it, they made up. Lisa and Nic broke up and made up so many times, it was dizzying."

Priscilla recalled her daughter's marriage being extreme in all sorts of ways.

She said: "When it was good, it was very, very good. And when it was bad, it was horrid."

Meanwhile, Priscilla recently claimed that Elvis was "a good husband" - despite being unfaithful.

The actress was married to Elvis between 1967 and 1973, and despite his cheating, Priscilla still has fond memories of their time together.

During an appearance on the Today show, she recalled: "Our life was very different, you know? Very, very different. And when he was in Vegas, you know, he was really starting his career back again into Vegas.

"We had a home in Palm Springs, a second home and I would go there to check it out when he was in Vegas to see how it's doing. If it's clean, if the maids had cleaned everything before he comes home."

Priscilla recalled that Elvis' mailbox would be filled with female fan letters. But she still considers the music icon - who died in August 1977, aged 42 - to have been a "good husband".

She explained: "I'm reading the mail, and the things that I was reading I really disapproved of and didn't like.

"They would go and meet Elvis at the house on weekends when he went, and it was another life. Now, he would come home great and wonderful. He was still a good husband but it was just too many of us."
