Prince William says Royal Family 'very much not racist' after Prince Harry and Meghan interview claims

The Duke of Cambridge has defended the royal family against accusations of racism made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, saying “we’re very much not a racist family” during a visit to an East London school.

In the two-hour Oprah Winfrey interview aired in the UK this week, William's brother Harry and his wife Meghan talked about their treatment and perceived lack of support from the Royal family.

When asked whether he had spoken to his brother since the Oprah Winfrey interview, Prince William, said: “No, I haven’t spoken to him yet. But I will do.”

Earlier in the week, Buckingham Palace issued a statement following the documentary, in which Meghan and Harry made a series of claims about their treatment.

A statement on behalf of the Queen released by Buckingham Palace said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

Prince Charles was also asked about the interview during a separate engagement this week and he laughed nervously and said: "Oh."
