Prince Harry says Diana would be 'very angry and sad' about royal family fallout

Prince Harry said he feels his late mother Princess Diana would be "very angry and sad" at how things panned out within the Royal family.

The Duke of Sussex appeared alongside wife Meghan Markle as they lifted the lid on their time in the palace in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The former royals - who are currently expecting a baby girl - discussed the rift between members of the royal family, most notably between Harry and William, as well as Harry with dad Princes Charles.

When Oprah probed the duke on what his late mother Diana would think about him stepping back as a senior member of the royal family, Archie's dad said she'd be angry and sad.

"I think she would feel very angry with how this has panned out and very sad, but ultimately, all she'd ever want is for us to be happy," he told the US host.

Meghan and Harry then moved to Canada before setting up shop in Los Angeles, with Harry revealing that the pair were forced to use money Diana left him because the royal family cut him off financially.

The couple's biggest concern was security and the ability to pay for it.

"I brought what my mom left me," Harry recalled. "And without that, we would not have been able to [leave], so touching back on what my mother would think of this, I think she saw it coming. I certainly felt her presence throughout this whole process."

Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan revealed she had only left the house "twice in four months" at one point during her life in the royal family as her existence was likened to lockdown.

The pregnant mum-of-one said she was "silenced" by the royals after marrying Prince Harry.

She said she was urged to stay home after not being given permission to go out to lunch with her friends.

Meghan told the US host that she was 'everywhere' in the press which led to her being 'nowhere' in her personal life as she was told to stay home behind closed doors.

She said she'd only stepped foot out of the house two times in a total of four months as Oprah compared her life back then to lockdown now.

Not being able to venture out into the world made Meghan feel "lonely" after being told to "lay low".

Oprah said the public can now "relate more" now that they've experienced lockdown, which Meghan said is similar to life as a royal.
