Prince Harry's claims about bike rides ridiculed after unseen photographs emerge

Prince Harry recently made a claim that he was never able to go on bike rides with his dad as a little boy, but now after unearthed childhood snaps surfaced online - many have questioned his claim.

During his controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March, alongside pregnant wife Meghan Markle, The Duke of Sussex told the host how he wanted to be able to do things like take his son Archie for bikes rides as he didn't have the opportunity as a child himself, writes The Mirror.

"This year has been crazy for everybody," Harry said, referring to the global coronavirus pandemic.

"But to have outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie and go for walks as a family and with the dogs.

"All of these things are just—I guess the highlight for me is sticking him on the back of a bicycle in his little baby seat and taking him on bike rides which is something I was never able to do when I was young.

"I can seat him on the back and he's got his arms out and he's like 'whoah.'"

But archive pictures have surfaced clearly showing a young Harry on the back of a bike being ridden by his father, and another where he's being towed in a cart by his dad.

One picture, from 1990, shows him sitting behind his dad while they ride alongside Prince William, who is on his own bike.

Another shot showed young brothers Harry and William looking cheerful while riding their own bikes with their parents Charles and Diana.

The prince has been called out for the apparent discrepancy on social media.

Journalist Martin Jay tweeted: "Is ANYTHING in Meghan and Harry on Oprah interview true??!!!"

Another tweeter questioned Harry's comments before they referenced Buckingham Palace's response to the Oprah interview saying: "One of the many reasons why Queen Elizabeth II said “recollections may vary”.

Another user weighed into the conversation as they commented: "Hope Oprah sees it. Harry seems to have amnesia yet there were many bike rides as a family."

In the tell-all interview broadcast on CBS and then ITV, Harry and Meghan, who quit their lives as senior royals last year to move to the US, made sensational claims of racism against The Firm.

They claimed concerns had been raised about how dark their son Archie's skin tone would be, although Oprah then spoke out to say it was neither the Queen or Prince Philip who made the remarks.

Meghan also claimed she was failed the mental health support needed while feeling suicidal when pregnant with her son Archie.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement a few days after the bombshell interview: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."
