Prince Harry and Meghan Markle being 'frozen out' of Hollywood 'one red carpet event at a time'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are being "frozen out" of Hollywood" one event at a time, says one royal commentator.

Kara Kennedy has slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, saying the couple don't have the "charisma, dedication and charm" needed to be A-list celebrities. Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and moved stateside with their family to start a new life, including signing multimillion dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify.

Writing in The Spectator, the journalist said one LA source told her "the main reason for them being excluded is that organisers know that all media attention would be on them and take away from the event or people there to celebrate”. She added that one A-lister left Harry and Meghan off the invite list for an event because of their "capacity to share", reports the Daily Star.

Since stepping down from senior royal duties, the Sussexes have been criticised for sharing private details of Royal Family relations. In an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan accused an unnamed member of the Firm of asking what colour her son Archie's skin would be before he was born, sparking a rise in tensions between the Duchess and her in laws.

Moreover, Prince Harry is set to release a memoir before the end of the year which he said will contain a "firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.” It is predicted that the contents of the memoir will further strain tensions within the Royal Family.

Ms Kennedy added that another reason the Sussexes have been sidelined is that they don't have the "charisma and dedication" needed to be A-list celebrities. She said: "You and your partner can buy a mansion in the right zip code, hang out with the right people and say the right things at the right charity events, but that doesn’t make you a Hollywood power couple.

"Modern-day stardom is about more than name recognition. It takes charisma, dedication and charm. For all their striving, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just don’t have it. Britain has realised this — and Hollywood is starting to realise it too."
