Prince Harry insists US is home 'for time being' despite 'so nice' visit to Queen

Prince Harry has insisted that while he thoroughly enjoyed his secret visit to Windsor Castle to see the Queen, the United States remains his home for now.

In the latest in a series of revealing interviews the Duke has given since splitting from the Royal Family, Harry told America's the Today Show of his reunion with his grandmother last week.

He told host Hoda Kotb: "Being with her, it was great. It was just so nice to see her.

"You know she's on great form. She's always got a great sense of humour with me."

But while he didn't exactly rule out a return to the UK in the future, he admitted the US now feels like home to him.

He continued: "Home for me now is, for the time being, it's in the States. And it really feels that way as well.

"We've been welcomed with open arms and we've got such a great community in Santa Barbara."

When Hoda asked again if America felt like home, he simply replied: "Yes."

Harry and Meghan have made a series of bombshell claims since they walked away from the Royal Family, and Buckingham Palace will be braced for more when the full interview is aired later today.

Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry recently failed to make it over for Prince Philip's recent memorial due to security concerns and amid ongoing rumours of a rift between the Duke and his brother, Prince William, and dad, Prince Charles.

The Duke of Sussex was speaking to the stateside host Hoda while at the Invictus Games in Holland.

He also revealed how he was able to make his grandmother laugh during their chat and insisted he was making sure she was "protected".

Harry told the host: "I'm just making sure she's protected and got the right people around her."

The host went on to tell Harry how it's common knowledge he has a habit of making the Queen laugh and asked if he was able to again.

He nodded and had a big smile on his face as he responded: "Yes, I did. Both Meghan and I had tea with her and it was really nice to catch up with her."

He had earlier told the BBC how his grandmother would have loved to have joined him at the Invictus Games.

He told the publication: "She had plenty of messages for Team UK which I've already passed on to most of them."

Harry and Meghan left for the states in March 2020.

They fled to North America after announcing they were quitting the Royal Family and have resided stateside ever since.

Shortly after their move, to packed up to settle in California, which has since been their permanent base.

A royal source told the Sun at the time the couple decided they "had to get out" before the borders closed for the foreseeable future due to the Covid pandemic.

In their initial quitting statement Meghan and Harry said they would split their time between the UK and north America, but that plan seemed to quickly change.

Prince Harry's Today show interview airs on Wednesday.
