Prince Charles 'will leave Harry in the cold if he attacks Queen again', insider claims

Prince Charles will leave Harry "out in the cold" if he attacks the Queen, a royal insider has claimed after the Duke of Sussex's latest comments about his family.

The Prince of Wales reportedly wants a reconciliation with his son but will "close ranks" with Her Majesty should personal criticism be made about her.

The monarch is "deeply upset" after the duke last week claimed that he and Meghan Markle suffered "total neglect" from the royal family, according to the Mail on Sunday.

A royal source told the paper: "I don’t think the Prince will cut his son off despite what Harry has said.

“Charles will want to engage, but it’s fair to say what Harry has said in both interviews with Oprah has been seen as very callous within the family.

"If Harry was to attack the Queen in a more personal way, Charles would close ranks with the Queen without a doubt and Harry would be out in the cold.”

Prince Harry's latest comments about his family were made in the new Apple TV documentary series The Me You Can't See.

Opening up about his childhood, the duke said: "My father used to say to me when I was younger, 'well, it was like that for me, so it’s going to be like that for you'."

A friend of Prince Charles added that he must be feeling "wretched" and wants above all to fix the rift between his son and the rest of the family.

It comes after a turbulent week for the royal family in which Prince William slammed the BBC for "tricking" his mother into her interview with Martin Bashir.

Prince Harry also condemned the media after Lord Dyson's inquiry made damning conclusions that the broadcaster covered up Bashir's "deceitful behaviour".

The Queen has not made any comment about the latest stories to embroil the royal family and was back to work on Saturday visiting HMS Queen Elizabeth.

The trip marked her first solo engagement since Prince Philip's death and saw the monarch meeting with members of the ship's company ahead of its maiden operational deployment.
