Prime Video top 10 shows — here’s the 3 worth binge-watching this week (Dec. 17-21)

Prime Video’s top 10 experiences the regular streaming reshuffle every week. Sometimes because new episodes land, other times because something brand new hits the service. That said, the list doesn’t always add up. Case in point: “Fallout” was sitting comfortably in the No. 2 spot, then vanished overnight, despite the first episode of season 2 dropping just yesterday. That kind of sudden change feels more like a temporary app glitch than an accurate reflection of what people are watching.

Either way, I’m sticking to what’s actually showing in the trending list right now. After digging through the rankings, I’ve narrowed it down to three titles genuinely worth your time this week: a historical drama finding a new wave of success, a tense crime thriller led by Jeremy Renner, and a gritty western from Taylor Sheridan.

This list is based on the Prime Video top 10 U.S shows as of Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Best shows in the Prime Video top 10

‘House of David’

“House of David” proved to be a hit when its first season premiered in February, with viewers returning in strong numbers for the second season in October. While a third season is reportedly “likely,” nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Still, given the show’s continued presence in Prime Video’s top 10, a renewal before the end of the year wouldn’t be surprising. Biblical stories have long carried a sense of grandeur, which is why the entertainment industry continues to turn to them for ambitious adaptations.

Set in ancient Israel, the series follows the rise of a young shepherd named David (Michael Iskander) whose life changes after he is secretly anointed by the prophet Samuel to succeed King Saul (Ali Suliman). As Saul’s grip on power weakens, David is thrown into the chaos of royal life and warfare. His unexpected defeat of the giant warrior Goliath (Martyn Ford) places him into the public eye, earning both admiration and resentment. The story traces David’s journey through Saul’s court, his growing reputation as a warrior and leader, and the events that slowly shape his path toward the throne.

‘Mayor of Kingstown’

Thanks to Prime Video picking up some first seasons of Paramount shows, two of Taylor Sheridan’s series make the cut, beginning with “Mayor of Kingstown.” This hard-hitting crime drama is currently airing its fourth season on Paramount Plus, with the season finale set to land at the end of December. If you’re in the mood for something bleak and relentless, it’s an easy recommendation since the show doesn’t pull its punches. There are plenty of shocking moments from the very first episode.

Set in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan, where the economy revolves around multiple prisons, “Mayor of Kingstown” centers on the McLusky family, who serve as influential intermediaries among inmates, guards, law enforcement, and criminal groups. The series follows Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) as he moves through this volatile landscape, taking on a leadership role after personal loss and trying to manage escalating tensions between rival factions. Each season brings new threats that test Mike’s ability to keep control of the town’s fragile equilibrium.

‘Landman’

The next Sheridan series to check out is “Landman.” Its first season is available on Prime Video, and a new season is currently airing on Paramount Plus if you’re interested in watching more. Expect the same riveting drama and character work seen in Sheridan’s other hits like “Yellowstone” and “Tulsa King,” but with an even grittier edge. If you’ve already devoured those series and are looking for another binge-worthy ride full of complex characters and high-stakes drama, “Landman” is definitely one to add to your watchlist.

Set in the boomtowns of West Texas, “Landman” follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), a landman for a major oil company who works to secure land and mineral rights while handling crises that arise in the field and boardroom. The series begins with Tommy dealing with the fallout from a deadly incident involving an oil rig and a cartel‑linked plane, forcing him to manage some complicated (but dangerous) negotiations.
