Prime Energy cans: flavours, where to buy, prices and health warning

Prime Energy cans have been officially launched in UK shops after months of anticipation.

While Prime Hydration drinks have been a fixture on supermarket shelves for several months, Prime Energy has been harder to come by. Some fans of Logan Paul and KSI’s endorsed drink paid £100 for a can from smaller newsagents such as Wakey Wines.

However, last week the official Prime Twitter account announced that UK retailers would start stocking the energy cans. The five available flavours are Blue Raspberry, Strawberry Watermelon, Orange Mango, Tropical Punch and Lemon Lime.

Whereas Prime Hydration is focused on providing electrolytes to your body after exercise, Prime Energy contains caffeine and is a rival to more established energy drink brands like Red Bull and Monster.

Prime’s announcement video stated that the energy cans will be available in Asda and EG Group stores, which owns Spar. It also said it will be priced at £2 per can.

Fans gave a mixed reaction to the news. Responding to the tweet, one said: “Cannot wait to try this.”

However, others expressed concern about the drinks availability. One said: “Probably out of stock everywhere.”

Another added: “Prime original hasn’t even arrived properly yet.” Prime Energy hasn’t been without controversy.

The cans should not be consumed by children under the age of 18 due to its high levels of caffeine. There is 200 mg of caffeine in Prime cans, compared to 86.4mg in a can of Monster Energy.

Dr Lee from Dr Fox Online Pharmacy delivered an urgent warning about children drinking Prime Energy earlier this year. She said: “I would not recommend children drink Prime Energy drinks or other energy drinks for children of any age.”

"Children don't need energy drinks anyway – they have plenty of energy! If your child is lacking in energy take them to see their GP, do not give them an energy drink.”
