President Droupadi Murmu on two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, receives guard of honour

RAIPUR: President of India Droupadi Murmu arrived in Raipur on Thursday on a two-day stay in Chhattisgarhand and began the tour by offering prayers at Lord Jagannath temple. Murmu received guard of honour at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur in presence of Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

This is her first visit to Chhattisgarh after taking charge as President in July last year.

Murmu landed around 11 am by a special aircraft and was also received by state chief secretary Amitabh Jain, Raipur mayor Aijaz Dhebar, Raipur collector Sarveshwar Bhure and SSP Prashant Agrawal.

The President who was accompanied by her daughter Itishree Murmu, was given a Guard of Honour and she proceeded to Jagannath temple in Gayatri Nagar. The routes in the city were diverted and blocked for the time being as per the schedule of President’s movement.

From the airport, the President left for Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Centre in Raipur to inaugurate 'SakaratmakParivartan ka Varsh' (Year of Positive Change) programme. She visited Guru Ghasidas museum post lunch.

The President will stay for the night at Raj Bhavan and on Friday, she will visit Mahamaya Temple in Ratanpurtown of Bilaspur district. She is scheduled to attend the 10th convocation ceremony of the Guru GhasidasCentral University in Bilaspur.

Murmu will be meeting delegates belonging to particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) at the Raj Bhavan in Raipur and fly back to Delhi on Friday evening.
