FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ President Donald Trump is getting higher marks from Florida voters over his handling of the coronavirus outbreak than he is from Americans overall.
A slight majority of Florida voters, 51%, said they approve of the job Trump is dong in handling the spread of coronavirus in the United States, with 36% disapproving and 13% neutral or offering no opinion.
The numbers come from a Florida Atlantic University poll released Tuesday.
Confidence in the federal government's ability to handle coronavirus is about the same, with 52% of Florida voters confident and 31% not confident.
As with just about everything connected with Trump, assessments of his handling of coronavirus break down largely on party lines.
Among Florida Republicans, 86% approve and 8% disapprove of Trump's handling of coronavirus.
Among the state's Democrats, 21% approve and 64% disapprove.
Among no party affiliation/independent voters, 46% approve and 34% disapprove of his performance.
National polling shows more people disapproved than approved of Trump's handling of coronavirus.
A Quinnipiac University poll on Monday found 43% of Americans approve and 49% disapprove of Trump's handling of coronavirus. The poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday.
A national CNN poll released Monday found 41% of Americans approve and 48% of disapprove of the way Trump is handling the coronavirus outbreak.
Trump's overall national approval rating hasn't changed. CNN said 43% of Americans approve and 53% disapprove, the same as it was in December.
The CNN poll was conducted Wednesday through Saturday.
CNN said 49% of those surveyed said the federal government has done a good job preventing the spread of coronavirus, 43% say poor.
