Premier League reveal latest test results as three clubs impacted

The Premier League have confirmed the latest round of testing has revealed four positive cases of coronavirus at three clubs.

Tests were carried out of players and staff at all 20 Premier League clubs on Monday and Tuesday, totalling 1008 samples.

And tonight it has been confirmed that four more positive tests have been returned.

The first batch of testing returned six positive cases, followed by only two at the end of last week.

But tonight's statement from the Premier League has confirmed a slight increase.

"The Premier League can today confirm that on Monday 25 May and Tuesday 26 May, 1008 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19," the Premier League said when offering their latest update on testing. "Of these, four have tested positive from three clubs.

"Players or Club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing."

Each club was given 50 test kits to use in this round of testing but they will be handed 60 for test that will be carried out on Thursday and Friday, with results due to be published on Saturday.
