The fan-favorite seasonal event, The Haunting, is set to return to Call of Duty this week, but with all of the hype surrounding the Black Ops 7 beta, there's been little pomp and circumstance about it yet.
And honestly, I get it. Activision finally flipping the switch and lowering the amount of skill-based matchmaking in BO7 is going to make it very difficult to return to Black Ops 6 and Warzone for The Haunting when it begins on Oct. 9.
This feeling is exacerbated by the fact that, although The Haunting's collab with Predator looks amazing, it's tough to get excited for it since there is no Carry Forward program for BO6 to BO7 this year. After many players complained about silly and unrealistic skins in the game this year, BO7 will be a total fresh start.
Because of this, anything unlocked during BO6's season six or The Haunting will not be available in BO7. It will remain in Warzone, at least for now, but the lack of excitement about that game's direction over the next few months is another story entirely.
The Haunting has been an amazing event in years past, switching up the battle royale by adding monsters to fight, fun collabs with spooky IP like Scream or Terrifier, and spooky-themed cosmetics. This year, along with Predator, looks to also include Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Chucky from Child's Play. But since BO6 will basically be sunset in a month when BO7 launches, why should players care?
It's assumed that Predator will remain available in the free-to-play battle royale game, but for those who are only interested in multiplayer offerings like BO6 and BO7, this event feels like a big missed opportunity, and I can only wonder if those who cried out about collabs like Beavis & Butthead or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be regretful since Predator won't be coming back in the new game.
This should be a triumphant return for Predator, who originally appeared in CoD as one of the first handful of collabs way back in 2015 as part of Call of Duty: Ghosts as a map-specific field order. Now, though, the iconic character will likely be a part of the season six battle pass.

CoD usually allows players to level the final battle pass of a previous game in the new one, but without Carry Forward available, we might see season one of BO7 begin alongside the game's launch on Nov. 14 or not much longer after.
I will miss Beavis & Butthead in BO7, personally, and my Raphael Ninja Turtle skin, too. Add Predator to the list now, I suppose. Hopefully, Activision has some good news on this front when it comes to BO6's season six ahead of its launch in a couple of days.
