Potential Bengals draft target Devin White puts on a show at scouting combine

LSU linebacker Devin White seems like the most logical pick for the Cincinnati Bengals if he’s there in the first round when the team gets to the podium.

Seemingly endless mock drafts have drilled this point home already — Sunday, White made the case for himself with a strong performance at the scouting combine.

White, 6’0″ and 237 pounds, blazed a 40-yard dash time many didn’t see coming:

To put that into perspective…

White entered the day with goals, per NFL.com’s Dan Parr: “…White said on Saturday that his goal is to go in the top five selections as he tries to one-up his friend Roquan Smith, who went eighth overall to the Bears last year. Smith ran the 40 in 4.51 seconds at the 2018 combine.”

And that’s the problem for the Bengals now — White might not make it to the 11th pick.

Which would be a shame, as linebacker is easily Cincinnati’s biggest need this offseason and White is a talent who can fill in anywhere on the unit thanks to his blend of athleticism and recognition.

White’s performance at the combine won’t cool the chatter about his being the perfect fit for the Bengals, at least.
