Postecoglou Spurs staff alternative as Kennedy Celtic wait continues

Ange Postecoglou has reportedly identified former Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies as someone he wants to bring on board his coaching staff at Tottenham.

It's said that Spurs are ready to ramp up their backroom staff appointments after Postecoglou was announced as the club's new boss last week.

And the Telegraph reports that Davies is on the shortlist as a candidate.

They report that Postecoglou has been told he can appoint two coaches outside the North London club.

It comes as Ryan Mason has been told he will be staying as part of the Spurs backroom team.

Postecoglou is also believed to want John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with him, although Celtic are very keen to hold on to the pair.

So, it's believed that this has prompted Postecoglou to look at other options, including Davies.

Paul Clement, former Swansea City manager, is another who is being considered for a position.

What is known at this moment in time is that Mason will be a senior member of Postecoglou's team, having recently stepped down from interim charge of the first team.

It's said the former midfielder is well-liked by players and other staff at the club, and it will provide some form of continuity by the time Postecoglou gets his hands dirty on his official start date, July 1.

The report also states that Spurs are upping their search for a new man to fill a senior position above Postecoglou, to work closely with incoming chief football officer Scott Munn.

Daniel Levy is thought to have considered candidates to come in as either a technical director or a sporting director.
