Porsche chief, Wolfgang Porsche, files divorce from wife over dementia: Report

Porsche executive, Wolfgang Porsche, has decided to end his marriage due to his wife having dementia-like illness, media reports have said.

The 79 year old billionaire has struggled to live with his wife, Claudia, due to changes in her behavior, sources close to the family have told the media, the Daily Mail reported.

For the unversed dementia is an umbrella term for various symptoms that affect the memory, social abilities and thinking capacity of an individual. It is not a specific disease but can be the result of several diseases. The classic sign of dementia is memory loss.

People with dementia experience memory loss that affects their daily activities, have difficulty in doing familiar tasks which they have been doing perfectly until then, have problems with language, are disoriented about time and place, have impaired judgment, have problem with abstract thinking, misplace things very often and forget about them, are unable to concentrate, and remain confused most of the times.

The billionaire, 79, claims his 74-year-old wife Claudia’s illness has caused “drastic changes” to her personality and is citing her dementia as the grounds for their separation, the NZ Herald reported.

Reports say, 74 year old Claudia has four caretakers looking after her for the last two years. "She has reportedly not been able to move independently for months and her mental awareness has undergone a rapid decline," the Daily Mail said.

The Porsches were married in 2019, but know each other since 2007. The couple has two children. With the divorce news, reports of Wolfgang getting close to a 59 year old ex-model, Gabriela Prinzessin zu Leiningen, is in the news as well.
