Popular Dublin street's cycle lane 'unpassable' because of leaves, says TD

A cycle lane on Griffith Avenue has been blocked by leaves falling from trees and a Dublin TD has called on Dublin City Council to keep the passage clear.

The street has a persist problem with the leaves as the Council cleared the cycle lane a few days ago.

Fianna Fail TD for Dublin North-West Paul McAuliffe took to Twitter to voice his concerns.

He said: "We wouldn't tolerate a road being unpassable and we can't tolerate a cycle lane either. Residents on Griffith Ave have long been swamped with tons of leaves each autumn, its not an easy task but path and cycle lanes must be kept clear by Dublin City Council."

Workers from the Council cleared the leaves from the street on Thursday.

They posted on Twitter: "Super work carried out this morning at Griffith Avenue, clearing the cycle lanes & footpaths of leaves. Thanks Dave & team."
