Popular Bristol music venue and nightclub SWX to reopen

One of Bristol's best-loved music venues and nightclubs is gearing up to reopen after six months of closure.

Before lockdown was enforced in March, SWX was popular with music lovers, regularly hosting major worldwide acts, and with students who packed it out for its weekly nights aimed at them.

Now, six months on from closing, the 2,000-capacity venue is finally gearing up to reopen - although obviously it won't quite be the same as it was before the arrival of coronavirus.

All three rooms of the large club will be reopening on Friday, October 9 with tables for groups of four and six.

Each room will have DJs performing live with the sessions running between 5.30pm and 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

"It's really exciting to be able to reopen the club," said Ben Townley, SWX's marketing manager. "It's been a long six months and we can't wait to get back into the swing of things.

"We're only going to open on Fridays and Saturdays initially and see how things go before deciding whether or not to add more sessions.

"All guests will be seated throughout their session and we'll be implementing all of the Government's Covid guidelines, including a one-way system to ensure social distancing, hand sanitising points and more."

Packages start at £30 per table for the four-and-a-half hour sessions, which includes a free drink for every member of the group.

There are also VIP deals for those who want to push the boat out, with the club offering groups its recently-renovated booths at a higher price.

SWX was bought by the Electric Group, which runs the well-known Electric Brixton club in South London, in November 2017.

Since then it has gone on to become a firm favourite in Bristol's nightlife scene for people of all ages.
