Parents will struggle to help their kids stay fit amidst the deepening cost of living crisis as the price of children's trainers has skyrocketed.
Labour analysis of inflation figures shows the cost of children's trainers has soared by 11%, women's sports leggings by 5% and even the price of a football has increased by 13%.
It comes as Brits are set to face two years of falling household incomes with inflation set to soar to more than 13% in October.
On a real basis post-tax incomes are set to fall 1.5% this year and 2.25% next, despite current Government support.
It would be the first time since records began in the 1960s that household incomes have fallen for two years in a row.
Labour has accused the Tories of taking their eye off the ball, and "pricing Brits out" of being able to keep fit.
Shadow Sports Minister Steph Peacock said: “Sport and recreation are important parts of daily life, keeping people healthy, bringing people together, providing jobs and growth.
"Yet we’ve had a decade of government failure on sport with the Conservative cost of living crisis making this worse, making everyday access to fitness activities more difficult."
