A man killed in an explosion at a house in Pontypool on Monday was a 32-year-old from the area, police have confirmed.

The death of the man, whose name has not yet been made public, is not being treated as suspicious, a Gwent Police spokesman said on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to an explosion in a garage at a property in the Coed Camlas area of Pontypool at around 11.10am on Monday. Fire and ambulance crews were on the scene and remained there for most of the day while a large cordon was put in place.

Police have now confirmed a man aged 32, from the Pontypool area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are now being supported by specialist officers.
