Poll reveals dramatic difference in how people view Scottish and UK Governments

THE Scottish Government is viewed as three times more competent than the UK Government, according to a new poll.

Data released by Redfield & Wilton revealed that the UK Government’s net competency rating in Scotland sits at minus 49%.

Just 13% of those polled believed Rishi Sunak’s Government were competent.

By comparison, the Scottish Government’s net competency rating sat at minus 14%.

In total, 43% said they believed the Scottish Government was incompetent while 29% said they thought it was competent.

The bad news didn’t end there for the UK Government as it received negative net approval ratings on every issue people were asked about from Scottish independence to education to the NHS.

The UK Government scored particularly badly on the economy and the NHS with both receiving net approval ratings of minus 51%.

Although the Scottish Government received negative net approval ratings on the majority of topics, it never reached as low as minus 51%.

The Scottish Government’s worst net approval rating was minus 19% for both gender reform and housing.

By comparison the UK’s best score when it came to policy approval ratings was minus 15% on Scottish independence.

What about the First Minister?

When it comes to who would make a better First Minister between Humza Yousaf and Anas Sarwar, Scots still prefer the SNP leader.

Yousaf (below) leads the Scottish Labour leader by 5%.

He holds a 9% lead over Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross.

Who do people want as Prime Minister?

Voters in Scotland said they would prefer Labour leader Keir Starmer to Sunak as Prime Minister at this moment in time.

Overall, the poll did not make good reading for the current PM with his net approval rating in Scotland sitting at minus 28%.

Meanwhile Starmer’s net approval rating sat at 2%.
