True Bangkok United's elimination from the race for a place in the group stage of the AFC Champions League has left their coach Mano Polking fearing for his job.
The 2018 Thai League 1 runners-up were beaten 1-0 at home by Vietnamese champions Hanoi FC on Tuesday night in the second round play-off round for the Asian club competition.
The loss has left a cloud of uncertainty hanging over Polking's future.
Polking told the post match news conference: "It was a disappointing game for our team.
"We have been preparing the team for a long time and we had high expectations for this game. We were hoping to make it through to the next round.
"I cannot blame any player. They all played as best as they could throughout the match.
"We also cannot blame the match referee as it is not the only reason that we lost. Vander Luiz should have been awarded a penalty. Hanoi FC got one and it tilted the match in their favour late in the game.
"I am very disappointed, but we have to bring back the motivation and switch the focus to the Thai League now. We must try to win the title this year. I believe in every player and I know they can do it this year.
"It will be our season and I hope that I will have the support from the executive board of the team to continue my work."
Bangkok United will kick off their Thai League 1 campaign with an away game at Sukhothai's Thalay Luang Stadium on Feb 24.
