Police said they 'couldn't quite believe their eyes' when they saw someone riding an electric unicycle along the M6 motorway.
Concerned motorists called 999 after seeing a man riding the unicyle on the hard shoulder near J20 for the Lymm Interchange.
Police used CCTV to locate the rider during the bizarre incident and then motorway officers followed it on the A556, Lancashire Live reports.
Officers pulled the rider over and admitted that they "couldn't quite believe their eyes".
North West Motorway Police tweeted about the unusual incident and shared a picture of the vehicle.
They said: "Couldn't quite believe my eyes this morning!
"Multiple calls received about a male on an electric unicycle on the hard shoulder of M6 junction 20 to 19 southbound.
"Located it on cctv and followed it on to A556. Rider stopped and issued TOR for being on the motorway."
The rider was issued with a traffic offence report following the incident.
