Police warning after E-scooter drink-drive arrest

British Transport Police on Merseyside have arrested a person on suspicion of drink-driving while using an E-scooter.

The BTP Merseyside officers have issued a warning to people using E-scooters this morning after arresting a suspect who has been remanded in custody.

BTP took to twitter to advise people using the popular pay-as-you-go two-wheeled transport that the same rules apply as with cars and motorcycles and that people who drink over and above the legal limit of 35mg will be arrested, charged and prosecuted.

This particular E-scooter drink-drive suspect faces a ban and a hefty fine.

BTP tweeted at 5.15am: "One in custody for drink driving. Remember whilst using an E-Scooter. the same Road Traffic Act applies as to when you use your car. #dontdrinkanddrive."
