Police treating Waramanga townhouse fire as suspicious

A townhouse in Waramanga has been completely destroyed in a fire which police are treating as suspicious.

The blaze started about midnight on Thursday and took six fire crews about an hour to extinguish.

The residents of the Yambina Crescent property were not home at the time and no one was injured in the incident.

Atmospheric testing was conducted in neighbouring homes before firefighters were able to depart the scene about 4.30am on Friday.

A joint investigation is now under way between ACT Fire and Rescue and ACT Policing.
