Police to crackdown on underage drinking in Falkirk area

Police in Falkirk are taking steps to crackdown on underage drinkers in a bid to make life more enjoyable for residents.

Officers want to hear from people living in Bainsford and Langlees.

They're working with Community Alcohol Partnership Scotland to give people a voice about how it impacts them.

Locals are being invited to take part in a survey which asks them things like - how much of a problem alcohol related litter is and what they think about the area, in particular young people drinking in public places.

Sergeant Steve Lorimer, who is based at Falkirk Police office believes that a CAP will promote a health and wellbeing message to young people, allowing them to be better informed about the harm that alcohol can cause.

If successful, CAP model will be extended to include other areas in Falkirk.

Sergeant Lorimer said: "We are keen to work together to establish a CAP in the Bainsford and Langlees area and as a first step we will be gathering some baseline information from young people in the area using surveys that will be carried out online.

"We would also like to gather some information from residents of Bainsford & Langlees about the impact the underage drinking has on them and again we will do this through a survey.

"I would encourage residents to complete the survey, as its really important we hear their views about what we should be doing."
