Woman found 'bleeding profusely' in Hamilton street

Emergency services rushed to a street in Hamilton late last night after a woman fell onto a fire hydrant.

Police say they were alerted to the incident in Braemar Street, Hamilton, about 11.40pm on Wednesday, October 3.

They believe the lady fell onto a fire hydrant and struck her head.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At around 11.40pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, we were alerted to a woman who required assistance in Braemar Crescent, Hamilton.

“The woman appeared to have fallen and struck her head on a fire hydrant.

“As a result she received a head injury and was bleeding profusely. The woman was taken to the University Hospital Hairmyres, where she was treated and kept in for observations.”
