Police swoop after reports youths armed with a knife were 'causing a disturbance' at Trafford Centre

Police stopped and searched a group of youths after reports they had been causing a 'disturbance' at the Trafford Centre while possessing a knife.

No weapons were found after the youths were intercepted by police at Cornbrook Metrolink station.

Police say the group were 'advised regarding their behaviour' then escorted from the premises following the incident on Saturday.

A post on the GMP Trafford North Facebook page said: "Officers from A and C Relief GMP Transport Unit have responded to reports of a group of youths causing a disturbance at The Trafford Centre while reportedly in possession of a knife.

"The youths boarded the Metrolink and were intercepted by officers at Cornbrook where they were searched.

"No knives were found on this occasion and the youths were advised regarding their behaviour before being escorted from the premises.

"We will not tolerate anybody carrying weapons and will always take robust action when information is received from the public."
