Police officers were sent to a Cardiff high school today and will return each day to have a “visible presence” for the rest of this week after threats were made on social media.
South Wales Police said they are investigating threats to Ysgol Glantaf in Llandaff North. It's understood offensive comments were made on a Twitter account which was set up on Tuesday night (December 17) and taken down on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the Welsh medium school said: “South Wales Police is investigating an incident relating to comments made on social media.
“As soon as we became aware of these comments we reported them to the police and as a precautionary measure, officers will have a presence at the school for the rest of the week to reassure pupils, staff and parents.
“In the meantime the school remains open to all staff and students.”
A South Wales Police spokeswoman said inquiries are still being made to find out who set up the account and posted the comments.
The force said in a statement: "Officers have attended the school this morning following concerns raised by staff and parents about a social media message that was posted on Tuesday evening.
"There will be a visible police presence at the school, particularly at the start and end of the school day, for the rest of the week.
"Work is also on-going to identify the person who posted the message."
