Police seize four vehicles with no tax in Nottingham operation

Police seized a number of vehicles after finding out that their owners had not paid tax in an operation carried out in Beeston.

An ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) operation ran by Beeston's neighbourhood specials policing team led to four vehicles being seized.

The team is part of Nottinghamshire Police.

The vehicles were stopped following ANPR alerts indicating that the vehicles had no tax.

The Broxtowe South police division said the drivers were reported - and urged others to tax their vehicles.

Police published comments that were made to them by drivers after they were told their vehicle was being seized.

In an attempt to put cops off the scent, one told officers: "I'm a taxi, it has to be taxed."

Another said: "I pay by direct debit but not paid it since November last year."

One more said: "How do I get a log book to tax it? I've owned it for over a year."
