Police seize £1.1m drug haul in southside flat raid

Police have seized a £1.1m drugs haul after swooping on a southside flat.

Officers raided the flat in St Andrew's Drive in Pollokshields at 2:05pm yesterday after the force were made aware about the stash.

Approximately 4.5kg of heroin and a large quantity of tablets, believed to be Etizolam, were recovered in the operation.

Police Scotland are carrying out enquiries to trace the owners.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: “This is a significant seizure and will cause a huge disruption to someone’s criminal activity. We are checking CCTV footage from in and around the area for any information on who these drugs belong to. We are acutely aware of the harmful effects drugs have on the people, families and the wider community.

"We will continue to target those involved in drug dealing and production and we do so with the help and co-operation of the public and our partners. Everyone can be assured that any information passed to police regarding drugs will be acted upon.”

If you have any information or concerns about drug dealing in your community, please contact police via 101. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where your information can be provided anonymously.
