Police release CCTV image of two men following brutal assault in Wallsend pub


Attackers left a man with a detached retina after a savage assault in a pub in Wallsend.

Shortly after 10.30pm on October 23, a 42-year-old man was assaulted by two other men at The Duke of York pub in Wallsend.

The two men punched the victim in the face and the upper body several times, resulting in the victim sustaining a detached retina which required surgery.

An investigation was launched and officers have reviewed CCTV along with speaking to a number of witnesses.

On Thursday, officers released a CCTV image of two men and are now appealing to the public to help identify them. They were in the area at the time and may have information that could assist with their investigation.

The two men or anyone who recognises them are encouraged to contact the police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on their website or by calling 101 and quoting reference NP-20211111-0830
