A police car rammed a suspected stolen Mercedes following a chase through the city centre.
The driver of the car failed to stop for a marked police car and attempted to drive away in a dangerous manner at around 10.40pm on Sunday, May 14. During a brief pursuit, the vehicle exceeded the speed limit, drove on the wrong side of the road and undertook other cars on Leeds Street, Scotland Road and Hunter Street in the city centre.
The Mercedes came to a halt when officers driving another marked police car carried out tactical move to bring the pursuit to an end on Netherfield Road North, Everton. Police arrested two men following the incident.

Photos of the scene taken by an eyewitness showed multiple police cars, with two of the vehicles surrounding the Mercedes. Pictures also show a police car with damage to the front.
A 22-year-old man from Liverpool and a 29-year-old man from Maghull were both arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, possessing a controlled class B drug (cannabis), failing to stop for police, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. They remain in police custody.
