Police probe high-value jewellery raid as third South Ayrshire home hit

Jewellery worth five figures has been stolen in the latest high-value theft of its kind to hit South Ayrshire.

Police say a 'sneak-in' raid took place at a property in Doonfoot, Ayr with jewels worth £12,000 lifted.

A house in Northdoon Place was hit between 10.30am on Friday, August 5 and 9am the following day.

It follows two similar thefts which took place in Troon last month – where thieves got away with five-figure hauls on both occasions.

Detectives want to speak to a man seen in the common close of the area on Friday morning.

He is described as being around 40 years old, approximately 5ft, 8in tall and of stocky build.

He was wearing a grey top, possibly a T-shirt, and jeans.

Detective Constable Rachel Wright-Turner said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or observed a man matching the description to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone in the area to check any dashcam footage or private CCTV and contact us if they believe they can assist.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 1076 of 6 August, 2022. Alternatively, a call can be made anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
