Police pictured with Margaret Ferrier advised not to self-isolate as investigation launched into trip

Police are investigating the actions of MP Margaret Ferrier, who travelled from Glasgow to London with COVID-19 symptoms then returned home after testing positive.

The Met said it was looking at possible offences related to the Health Protection Regulations.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live yesterday evening: “Following consultation with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service earlier today, it was decided that they and British Transport Police will investigate potential breaches of coronavirus legislation within their jurisdiction.”

Glasgow Live also understands that officers pictured with Margaret Ferrier, posted on Twitter on September 25th, have been advised not to self-isolate following guidance from the NHS.

Ms. Ferrier was pictured alongside Chief Inspector Baillie, Inspector McManus and Sergant Hunter, who met with Margaret Ferrier on the 25th of September and are pictured doing so on the East Kilbride, Rutherglen & Cambuslang Police Twitter.

The picture was retweeted onto Ms. Ferrier's account on the 28th of September, after she started showing symptoms and had her positive result on the 28th.

Ms Ferrier has been widely condemned for risking the health of people in parliament and on public transport.

She has been suspended by the SNP and faces calls to quit as an MP.

DUP MP Jim Shannon, who was seated at the same socially-distanced dining table as Ms Ferrier on Monday evening, is self-isolating but tested negative on Thursday afternoon.

An Assistant Sergeant at Arms was close to Ms Ferrier when she spoke in the Commons on Monday but has also been advised  not to self-isolate.
