Police are on the scene of a major incident in Ayr this morning.
A large area of the town's Wallacetown district is currently on lockdown following a serious incident.
Emergency services have cordoned off areas such as George Street, Lymonds Wynd and the underpass close to the TK Maxx superstore.
An eyewitness told Ayrshire Live: "There has been a significant police presence here for many hours and it is clearly a very serious incident.
"The cordon stretches back for some way and is affecting a number of streets in the area."
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
