Police have named a 38-year-old man who died in a horror crash in Clackmannanshire.

Alan Douglas from Tullibody was involved in a smash between a car and a lorry on the A908 near Benview at around 5.50am on Thursday.

Emergency services raced to the scene but he was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.

Police closed the road between Fishcross and the Marchglen junction for around nine hours.

Sergeant David Ross, of Stirling Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Douglas at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the crash and I would ask for the public’s assistance with our investigation.

“If anyone was in the area at the time of the crash, or has any dashcam footage that can assist us, please get in contact.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped with our enquiries so far.”

Police Scotland can be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0388 of January 23.
