Police in Newport moved people on for sunbathing after finding their cars parked outside a retirement park on the weekend.
Officers found a number of vehicles parked outside Lighthouse Retirement Park in the Marshfield area yesterday, Sunday April 19.
A statement from Gwent Police on social media said: “Members of [the] public were spoken to regarding sun bathing.”
The area is a popular spot for walkers and visitors, being located next to the Wales Coastal Path and being a short drive from both Newport and Cardiff.
A sign outside of the retirement park read: "Protect our elderly residents. It is not essential to travel here for your walk. THINK. Don't be responsible for their deaths! We have over 200 elderly who have nowhere else to walk."
Police were patrolling across Newport and elsewhere in Wales yesterday as temperatures reached 18 degrees celsius.
This comes a week after the public were warned by police about staying home over the bank holiday weekend rather than being tempted to travel outside due to good weather.

Tweeting about the incident near Lighthouse Retirement Park, Gwent Police reminded members of the public to be mindful of more vulnerable people whenever making a journey: “Remember to protect our most vulnerable within the community and reduce the spread of Covid-19.”
